The Liquid Sunshine Sound System is run by deejay Maarten Vlot, bringing you the best deep funk, rare groove, disco & beats - All The Good Stuff!! There's a radio show, events, festivals - and we even DJ out in the wild.

Maarten Vlot, selecta and collecta since the first vinyl pressings, started the radio show Liquid Sunshine in 2018, and commenced DJing at the same time as The Liquid Sunshine Sound System. There were no humble beginnings with the radio show, but straight into interviews with artists like Carl Cox, Andy Compton, Steven Moove, Marcel Vogel, Nicole Willis, Josh Tonna, Shinji, Mark Mallet and many others. The show now has 1500 listeners each day, 1000+ subscribers to the podcast, regularly hits #1 on most listened to podcast, and is still growing. Programs offer a mix of between music, interviews and in depth analysis of a subject (artist, label, etc). The success of the radio program has now resulted in Maarten doing frequent guest mixes and shows on other stations.

As a deejay, Maarten Vlot is out there every week, either at his 3 residencies or at one-off gigs all across the east coast. In addition, he mentors young and up and coming DJs, which fosters and stimulates the local music scene.

Liquid Sunshine is all about good times and positive warm vibrations. It makes people feel good about themselves and the world. Strong mixing skills make it possible to shift easily between divergent BPMs and genres, creating lovely flavour and texture. This makes for an exiting and danceable set that will have the crowd coming, dancing, staying en enjoying the warm summer drops of Liquid Sunshine.

Music is tightly and expertly curated and Maarten Vlot revels in long sets, 4+ hours. During these sets he is able to create a narrative and tell a story. Something he learned in his former life as litigation lawyer.

Maarten Vlot has a deep and forensic musical knowledge – he analyses music in a forensic manner and with academic rigour. This allows for cross referencing tracks on elements, ‘flavour’, dance floor capability and other elements, combining tracks that can be across genres but in a logical and enjoyable story.
